RACE gives kids four steps, the same every time:

• R – Restate the question in your own words.
• A – Answer every part of the question.
• C – Cite evidence from the text.
• E – Explain how the evidence supports your answer.

This sampler is practice with that routine. Kids read a short passage, answer a prompt with RACE, and check their work. You get an answer key, so you're not grading from scratch.
